One of the biggest stories in the world of gastronomy this season is the Monaco opening of a new concept restaurantcreated by Mireille Hayek in Lebanon: a dining out place for food lovers to discover.
From 2 April, Monegasques will be able to enjoy Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine in the Rotunda of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. Em Sherif Monte-Carlo is part of a family-run group of restaurants and cafés that are renowned across the Arab world for their relaxed atmosphere and authentic cuisine, which brings back traditional recipes with a special touch by founder Mireille Hayek. “I feel at home when I cook, and that makes me feel good,” she explains. She has passed on her love of food – and all the secrets of her signature dishes – to her talented daughter, Yasmina Hayek, a graduate of the Bocuse school of art and fashion, and now the Executive Chef of this new restaurant. Like the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Yasmina has a passion for tradition, sharing, excellence and innovation, and develops her gastronomy like an art form. Em Sherif offers a set-menu lunch and an à la carte dinner, when a variety of dishes are served at the centre of the table to encourage sharing. The restaurant has an open-air terrace with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, and an inviting lounge area with soft music, where guests can smoke shisha, drink tea or share mezzes until 1am. Know-how and excellence are the buzz-words at this enchanting new eatery, which completes the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer offer. An ideal spot for summer evenings.
