Ballets de Monte-Carlo

The new edition of Monaco Danse Forum returns with four shows in December: a distillation of contemporary dance that opens with L’heure exquise, a ballet by Maurice Béjart inspired by the work of playwright Samuel Beckett, in which the heroine emerges from a delightful mound of pink ballet shoes. Next up is a highly contemporary version of Hamlet by imPerfect Dancers Company, featuring an Ophelia who desperately seeks salvation through reading. Ce que le jour doit à la nuit, a ballet by Hervé Koubi, oscillates between hip-hop and classical dance. The pace continues with La danse du soleil by Geneva Camerata, described by the New York Times as one of the best classical ballet productions: thirty musicians dance while playing Lully and Mozart, sharing the stage with the celebrated dancer Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola, who delivers a captivating performance. Not to be missed!
