Opéra de Monte-Carlo: Il Corsario

One of the roles of an opera house is to reintroduce audiences to lost treasures, and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo has repeatedly turned the spotlight on neglected works by Giuseppe Verdi. Following its productions of the stunning I Lombardi alla prima crociata and I Masnadieri, it is presenting Il Corsario on 12 and 14 December, a journey that alternates between the sensual beauty of the cavatinas and the energetic rhythm of the cabalettas.
