Iconic vehicles return this year to open the Principality’s major motoring competitions. From 13 to 15 May, the 13th edition of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique brings together classic models from the pre-war period and the 1950s to the 1980s on the starting grid. Divided into different series, these vintage cars, which have all taken part in international competitions, will give spectators the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous retrospective. One of the highlights of the previous edition was Jean Alesi’s outstanding performance at the wheel of a Ferrari 312 B3-74.

A great show
Next, it’s the turn of the world’s top drivers to heat up Monaco’s asphalt. This year, the 79th edition of the Monaco Grand Prix will be held from Thursday 26 to 29 May, and the event will feature a modified programme. Formula 1 sessions will now take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while Thursday afternoon will be dedicated to support races. One of the most eagerly anticipated drivers will obviously be Monegasque Charles Leclerc, who says he is confident about the season. When he recently unveiled the F1-75, the team’s new car for 2022, the two-time winner of the Grand Prix spoke in glowing terms about his team’s hard work and expressed his ambition to become world champion this year. “Realistically, we know where we’re coming from. 2020 was really complicated, 2021 a bit better, but 2022 is an enormous opportunity.” In just a few weeks’time we’ll be able to see him at the wheel of his sleek new racing car.
